In April of 1926, there were 12 names on the charter to form Carterville Baptist Church. They bought land in July of that year with plans to build a church building. The original members walked miles to sell chickens to pay for the vision that God had given them.
In 1932 the original, white church building was completed.
Bro. Leland Hogan was called as pastor in 1969. This served as the beginning of a long and healthy tenure where the church grew and added more members and staff.
As Carterville continued to grow, in the 1990’s a new sanctuary was built followed by the new Fellowship Hall in the early 2000’s.
Dr. Ben Skipper was called to become pastor of Carterville in 2015. He had served in the roles of Student Minister and Associate Pastor at Carterville for the previous 8 years.
