Carterville Worship Choir ~ The Place for You

The Worship Choir rehearses on Sunday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Choir Room located in the Music Suite adjacent to the Sanctuary. Visitors and potential new members are always welcome to join us. Choir rehearsal is intended primarily to prepare a wide variety of choral music for Sunday morning worship and to develop musical skills, but is also provides a time of spiritual refreshment and great fellowship as we sing praises to the Lord. Childcare is available during rehearsal for single parents and families with both parents in Choir. Please contact Dawn Napier in the Music Office to make childcare reservations or for further details regarding childcare.

How to Join

• Pray about it. You are committing to be an active member of the Worship Choir, which is primarily a ministry rather than a fellowship group. You will be serving as a ‘lead worshipper’ and will be held to a higher level of accountability for your spiritual example and worship attendance.
• Give it a try. Attend a Sunday evening rehearsal to get a feeling of what things happen in preparation for Sunday morning worship. Complete a Visitor’s Registration Card and the Membership Vice President will guide you through the rest.

Auditions are not required to join the Worship Choir

Preschool & Children’s Choirs

There are currently five preschool and children’s choirs at Carterville Baptist Church. All children, ages four through 6th grade, are welcomed to enroll. The Preschool and Children’s Choirs meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:15-7:30 pm during the fall trimester (August-December). Each choir is fully staffed with trained leadership. Each choir is designed to teach your child about the love of Jesus through the wonderful medium of music.

The Preschool and Children’s Choirs are divided into the following choirs:

Student Choir

The Student Choir Ministry at Carterville Baptist Church is open to any teen in grades seven through twelve and meets every Sunday afternoon from 4:30-5:30 in the Choir Room located in the Music Suite. The Student Choir sings in the Evening Worship Service and occasionally during Morning Worship. Students have the opportunity to participate in a summer choir tour each year. All styles of music are used including contemporary Christian and traditional.

Golden Bells

The Golden Bells Handbell Choir of Carterville Baptist Church rehearses on Sunday afternoons from 4:30-5:30 in the Handbell Rehearsal Room located in the Music Suite. Visitors and potential new members are always welcome to join us. Currently playing on 4 octaves of Malmark Handbells, the Golden Bells often play in worship and for various community events.

Auditions are not required to join Golden bells, however the ability to ready music is beneficial.

GAP Band

God’s Anointed Praise (GAP) Band is a worship team that brings a more contemporary sound to our worship experiences. This unique group of dedicated musicians has many opportunities of ministry outside the walls of our church. They are frequently asked to lead worship at revival meetings, youth rallies, and civic events. As their name implies, the goal of this group is not simply to perform but rather to lead the church in Praise and Worship. The GAP Band rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:00 pm in the Sanctuary.

An audition is required to join the GAP Band.
